Paducah, KY – A powerful cold front moving into Kentucky this weekend is set to bring subfreezing temperatures and the possibility of light snow on Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Paducah reports that temperatures will sharply drop starting Friday, with lows plunging into the teens by nightfall. Saturday will remain cold, with highs near 40°F and a 20% chance of snow accumulation, particularly along the I-64 corridor. The system is expected to be moisture-starved, limiting snowfall, but residents should still prepare for slick roads and freezing conditions.

Sunday will continue the trend of frigid weather, with morning lows dipping as far as 14°F in some areas. Vulnerable populations and those without adequate heating are urged to take precautions as this extended cold snap could pose serious risks.

Looking ahead, Thanksgiving Day will be a reprieve, with sunny skies and highs near 47°F, but the colder air will settle in shortly after. Residents are encouraged to winterize their homes and vehicles and ensure outdoor animals are protected. Travelers should check road conditions before heading out over the weekend.

This early-season cold wave highlights the importance of staying informed as winter approaches.
