Fort Wayne, IN – Northern Indiana residents can enjoy a warm weekend, but colder temperatures and snow showers are expected by Tuesday night.
Today’s weather will be partly sunny with a high near 40, offering a brief thaw for much of the region. Sunday will bring even warmer conditions, with highs nearing 48 degrees under mostly sunny skies. However, these milder temperatures will be short-lived as a cold front moves in early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, rain showers will begin late Sunday night and continue into Monday morning, with a 50% chance of precipitation. As temperatures drop Monday night into the low 30s, conditions will become more favorable for snow. Light snow showers are likely Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning, with highs dipping into the low 30s.
Roads such as I-69, US-30, and other major routes may become slick by midweek, especially during the morning commute. Motorists should plan for potential delays and monitor local forecasts for updates. Residents are also encouraged to clear storm drains ahead of Sunday’s rain to prevent pooling water or localized flooding.
Looking further ahead, temperatures are expected to remain in the low 30s for the rest of the week, with a slight chance of additional snow showers by Wednesday evening. This return to winter weather could also lead to icy patches, particularly on untreated sidewalks and driveways.
With weather patterns changing rapidly, staying informed will be essential. Keep an eye on updated forecasts, and take precautions to stay safe as conditions transition from mild to wintry.
