Salt Lake City, UT – Northern Utah is bracing for light to moderate snow this weekend, with travel impacts expected along major roadways, including I-15 and I-80. Residents are advised to plan ahead as snow bands are forecast to arrive late Friday and persist into Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, the highest snowfall accumulations will concentrate in the northern and eastern parts of Utah. Areas along I-80, particularly near Park City and the Wasatch Range, could see up to 2 inches of snow, while parts of I-15 near Salt Lake City may experience slippery conditions with lighter accumulations. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, especially during the early morning hours when snow is most likely to fall.

This weather system is part of a two-phase storm. The first band will impact the area late Friday into early Saturday, while a second system is expected to bring scattered snow showers to southern Utah from Saturday afternoon into Monday.

Temperatures are forecast to remain cold, with highs on Saturday reaching only the mid-30s in Salt Lake City. Overnight lows will dip into the low 20s, contributing to potential icy patches on untreated roads.

Looking ahead, Utahns can expect clearer skies starting Sunday, with sunshine returning and temperatures gradually climbing into the upper 30s by midweek. However, residents should remain alert for updates as snow patterns may shift slightly.

Plan extra travel time, check road conditions on UDOT’s traffic website, and ensure vehicles are equipped for winter driving.
