La Crosse, WI – A snowy weekend is ahead for Wisconsin, with snow showers developing late Saturday night and potentially impacting roadways like I-90 by Sunday morning. Residents should prepare for slippery travel conditions and dropping temperatures as winter weather tightens its grip on the region.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, light snow is likely to start Saturday evening, becoming heavier overnight. The highest chances for accumulation, around 1 to 3 inches, are forecast for areas near La Crosse, with some locations seeing isolated totals over 3 inches. Travel along I-90 and other major routes may become hazardous, especially Sunday morning.

Saturday’s high will hover near 28°F before temperatures fall into the low teens overnight. Sunday’s weather will bring highs around 31°F, with snow tapering off in the afternoon. A sharp drop in temperatures begins Sunday night, as lows plummet to around 3°F. By Monday, wind chills could reach as low as -10°F to -20°F, with highs only in the single digits.

Motorists are advised to check weather updates regularly and allow extra travel time if commuting on Sunday. The National Weather Service also recommends having an emergency kit in vehicles due to the potential for rapidly changing conditions.

Looking ahead, Monday and Tuesday will remain frigid, with highs struggling to reach double digits and lows dropping well below zero. Skies will clear midweek, bringing sunnier but cold conditions to the region.
