Spokane, WA – A winter weather advisory is in effect for portions of Washington and Idaho from early Friday morning through Saturday. Authorities warn of challenging travel conditions across several areas.

According to the National Weather Service, Wenatchee, Chelan, and the Waterville Plateau could see between 2 and 7 inches of snow, depending on elevation. Leavenworth and Stevens Pass are bracing for accumulations up to 10 inches, significantly impacting commutes. Northern Idaho’s Panhandle and Northeast Washington mountains may see 4 to 8 inches, with heavier snow expected above 3,000 feet.

The advisory begins at 3 a.m. Friday, with hazardous conditions likely during morning and evening commutes. Roads through mountain passes, including Stevens and Sherman, are expected to be particularly treacherous. Travelers should monitor updates and consider delaying non-essential trips.

Local officials urge drivers to use caution, reduce speeds, and equip vehicles with snow tires or chains. For updated road conditions, visit WSDOT’s website or call 511 in Idaho.
