Central Illinois – Snowfall and freezing temperatures will grip Central Illinois starting Thursday night and persist through the weekend. The National Weather Service forecasts snow accumulating Friday morning and tapering off by the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Central Illinois, temperatures will remain below freezing for the next several days. Thursday will bring highs between 24°F and 28°F, while Friday’s high will hover near 27°F to 31°F. The low temperatures are expected to range from 3°F to 10°F on Wednesday night, with wind chills pushing into negative single digits.

Snowfall will begin overnight Thursday and continue into Friday morning, potentially affecting the morning commute. Drivers are urged to exercise caution as roads may become slippery. By Saturday, the snow will clear, but the cold temperatures will linger. Partly cloudy skies will dominate the weekend, with highs near 29°F on Sunday.

The weather service also warns of increased frostbite risk due to low wind chills overnight. Residents should wear warm clothing and limit outdoor exposure.

Seasonably cold conditions are expected to last into next week, although Sunday’s highs may reach the low 30s. Officials recommend monitoring updates as the forecast evolves and preparing for potential impacts from the snow.
