Texarkana, TX – A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Northeast Texas, with heavy snow and ice creating hazardous conditions along the I-30 corridor.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service, begins at 6 a.m. Thursday and lasts through noon Friday. Forecasters predict snowfall totals between 2 and 6 inches, with ice accumulations up to 0.3 inches. The heaviest precipitation is expected Thursday evening, with treacherous travel conditions likely through Friday morning. Bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads will become slick, and sporadic power outages are possible due to ice on tree limbs and power lines.

Drivers are urged to avoid non-essential travel during the storm and exercise caution if driving on I-30 or nearby roadways. Residents should prepare for delays and ensure they have emergency supplies in case of power outages.

Friday’s weather will improve gradually, with clouds clearing in the afternoon and a high of 34°F. However, lingering icy patches may still pose risks into the morning hours.

Looking ahead, the weekend is forecast to bring mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-30s. Cold temperatures will persist, with lows dipping to 13°F by Sunday night.
