Detroit, MI – A Small Craft Advisory has been issued for Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair, starting Friday morning and lasting through Saturday morning.
The advisory will be in effect from 5 a.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday. According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, the affected area will experience sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots, with gusts reaching up to 30 knots. These conditions are expected to cause significant wave activity on both lakes.
For Lake Erie, waves are projected to reach 3 to 5 feet, with maximum heights nearing 7 feet. Lake St. Clair will see waves between 2 to 3 feet, with a possible maximum of 4 feet.
Boaters are advised to exercise caution and avoid navigating during the advisory period. Smaller vessels could face difficult or dangerous conditions due to strong winds and high waves. Boaters are urged to monitor local weather updates before heading out onto the water.
