Nebraska – Showers are forecast to hit Northeast Nebraska tonight, with an elevated fire risk expected by Sunday. Residents along U.S. Route 275 should prepare for wet conditions tonight and exercise caution during the heightened fire danger over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Omaha/Valley, scattered showers are likely across the region Friday night, with temperatures dropping to 46-56°F. A 20-30% chance of rain will linger into the night, potentially affecting driving conditions, especially near Norfolk and along U.S. 275.

By Saturday, the weather will calm slightly, with partly cloudy skies and highs between 69-77°F, offering some respite. However, breezy and warmer conditions return on Sunday, pushing highs to 77-82°F. Winds and low humidity levels will increase the fire risk across much of the area, prompting NWS to issue a “Very High Fire Danger” warning for the day.

Heading into Monday, the weather will remain unsettled, with a 40-70% chance of showers and isolated storms. Temperatures will stay moderate, ranging from 70-77°F. Early morning travelers on Tuesday should be cautious as showers continue, with chances of rain decreasing later in the day.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated with local weather alerts and practice fire safety by avoiding outdoor burning and properly discarding cigarette butts during these dry, windy conditions. High winds combined with dry conditions are expected to persist through early next week, posing a continued threat to fire safety in the region.
