Charleston, WV – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia until 10 p.m. EDT Saturday. This alert is in addition to a tornado watch currently in effect for areas of eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania until 8 p.m.
According to the US National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the severe thunderstorm watch includes potential threats such as a couple of tornadoes, isolated hail up to quarter size, and wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph. The affected area encompasses over one million residents, 390 schools, and 32 hospitals.
