Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Iowa: 15 Million People Affected throughout the Midwest

Dubuque, IA – A severe thunderstorm watch impacting over 15 million people has been issued for parts of Iowa, as well as Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. The watch, valid until 11 a.m. CDT Tuesday, warns of wind gusts up to 70 mph, frequent lightning, and hail the size of ping pong balls.

The National Weather Service indicates that thunderstorms are currently moving southeast across Lake Michigan, with southern Michigan expecting storm arrival between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. EDT.

Residents in the watch area, including Dubuque, should remain alert and prepared. Authorities recommend securing outdoor items and staying indoors during the storm.
