Christmas morning brings a severe thunderstorm watch for residents across 15 Texas counties. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Watch 713, effective until 6 a.m., covering major areas like Harris, Galveston, and Fort Bend counties. Watch 712 remains active for Polk and San Jacinto counties until 2 a.m.

According to the NWS, the storm system could bring damaging winds, hail, and heavy rainfall to cities including Houston, Sugar Land, and Galveston. Coastal areas, such as Galveston Bay and Matagorda Bay, are also under advisory.

Residents are urged to remain cautious, as localized flooding and reduced visibility could create hazardous conditions. Outdoor holiday decorations and other unsecured items should be secured ahead of the storms.

The weather system is expected to move quickly, but its potential impact could disrupt holiday plans across the region. Emergency officials advise staying indoors during severe weather and monitoring local updates for changing conditions.

Stay weather-aware this Christmas and take precautions to protect your family and property.
