Springfield, MO – Severe thunderstorms continue to impact parts of Missouri and Arkansas early Saturday morning. The National Weather Service has extended Severe Thunderstorm Watch 143, previously set to expire at 3 AM, until 5 AM CDT. The watch covers 12 counties in Missouri and several areas in Arkansas.

In Missouri, counties affected include Dent, Howell, Shannon, Texas, Barry, Christian, Douglas, McDonald, Ozark, Stone, Taney, and Wright. Cities such as Branson, West Plains, and Ozark are under the watch. In Arkansas, the extension covers Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Madison, Washington, Baxter, Marion, Newton, and Boone counties, impacting areas like Fayetteville, Harrison, and Mountain Home.

According to the National Weather Service, these areas are at risk for severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds, hail, and possible tornadoes. Residents are advised to stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and to have a plan in place for seeking shelter if needed.
