Pittsburgh, PA – A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 5:15 p.m. Wednesday for Allegheny, Washington, southern Butler, and eastern Beaver counties.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh reported at 4:43 p.m. that severe thunderstorms are moving east at 35 mph. The storm line spans from Evans City to Canonsburg, with radar indicating wind gusts reaching 60 mph.
According to the NWS, these storms could cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations in the path of the storm include Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Bethel Park, McKeesport, Butler, and West Mifflin, among others.
Residents are advised to seek shelter in a sturdy building and stay away from windows. The NWS warns that tornadoes can develop quickly from these thunderstorms. If a tornado occurs, take cover in an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
