Kansas City, MO – Residents in northeastern Kansas and northern Missouri should prepare for severe weather as strong storms are expected to develop by Thursday. Forecasters are warning that the storms could bring quarter-sized hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph, creating hazardous conditions. Temperatures will also remain unusually warm, with highs in the mid-80s to lower 90s.

According to the National Weather Service, the strongest storms will likely occur on Thursday afternoon and evening. The threat of severe weather is expected to continue into Friday, although storms may lose intensity by the weekend. Above-normal temperatures will persist throughout the week, increasing the potential for weather instability.

In addition to the storm outlook, tonight’s forecast calls for a partial lunar eclipse starting at 8:41 p.m. EDT. However, cloud cover may hinder visibility for parts of the region, particularly where storms are already developing. Residents should monitor weather updates and take safety precautions, including securing outdoor items and staying indoors during storm conditions.
