Oklahoma City, OK – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for central Oklahoma, effective Tuesday from 5:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. CDT. Storms are expected to bring large hail and damaging wind gusts.

The NWS warns that scattered hail could reach up to two inches in diameter, while isolated wind gusts could hit 70 mph. Thunderstorms are expected to intensify throughout the evening, drifting eastward across the watch area.

According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, areas impacted will lie approximately 50 miles north and south of a line from Chickasha to McAlester, Oklahoma. Residents are urged to stay alert and monitor weather updates. Severe storms occasionally lead to tornadoes, although no tornado warnings are in effect at this time.

As precautionary measures, the NWS reminds residents to prepare for possible power outages, hail damage, and downed trees.
