Seattle, WA – A major winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds to the Cascade Mountains of Washington, prompting a Winter Storm Warning from 10 a.m. Monday through 4 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Seattle, snowfall totals could reach 12 to 24 inches at elevations above 4,000 feet, with locally higher amounts in the highest peaks. The warning covers the West Slopes of the North and Central Cascades, including areas such as Stevens Pass, Mount Baker, Snoqualmie Pass, and Crystal Mountain Ski Area.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly, with heavy snow accumulation and gusty winds causing blowing snow and reduced visibility. In some areas, travel may become nearly impossible due to whiteout conditions. The strong winds could also bring tree damage and power outages.

Officials urge travelers to carry emergency supplies such as flashlights, food, and water in their vehicles. Those heading to mountain passes should check for road closures and delays before departure.
