Philadelphia, PA – A flood warning is in effect today for Delaware Bay and southern New Jersey, as coastal flooding is expected to impact roads and low-lying areas throughout the weekend. The National Weather Service has cautioned residents to avoid traveling on roads near the coastline, especially Route 9, where water levels could rise quickly due to high tides.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning will remain in effect through Sunday morning, with moderate flooding predicted along the southern shores of Raritan Bay and Delaware Bay. Rip currents will pose a significant threat to beachgoers, with conditions too dangerous for swimming.

Residents should monitor local alerts for potential road closures and be prepared to take detours, especially in flood-prone areas. The advisory also warns that minor flooding could extend into Monday, complicating travel plans.

Today’s forecast shows temperatures reaching a high of 80°F with mostly cloudy skies. Sunday’s high is expected to drop to 76°F, with scattered showers possible by midweek. Officials urge caution as flooding, rip currents, and strong winds may continue to affect the region through next week.
