An excessive heat warning remains in effect in San Francisco through Thursday night, with temperatures peaking at 92°F today. The National Weather Service urges residents and travelers along I-80 and throughout the Bay Area to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

According to the NWS, the excessive heat warning will last until 11 p.m. Thursday. Sunny skies and highs in the mid-90s are expected today, with only mild relief at night as temperatures drop to 62°F. On Thursday, the heat continues, reaching 85°F by afternoon. The city should finally see cooler weather by Friday, with temperatures dipping to 79°F.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day and keep an eye on vulnerable groups, including the elderly and young children. Local cooling centers have been opened in public libraries and community centers across the city. With west winds increasing to 10 mph by Friday, relief should arrive in time for the weekend, with more comfortable highs near 80°F expected on Sunday.
