San Francisco, CA – Temperatures soared across the San Francisco Bay Area on Monday, shattering long-standing records in both San Rafael and San Jose. As the region braces for another day of intense heat on Tuesday, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an ongoing heat advisory for the East Bay through Wednesday evening.
According to the NWS, San Rafael reached 104°F, surpassing the previous record of 99°F set in 1956. Meanwhile, San Jose recorded 95°F, breaking a century-old record of 92°F from 1919. The heat advisory affects areas such as Santa Clara Valley, the East Bay Hills, and the valleys, with temperatures expected to reach between 95°F and 100°F.
Residents are urged to take safety precautions, including staying indoors during the hottest parts of the day, staying hydrated, and taking frequent cooling breaks. Heat conditions are expected to ease slightly by Thursday, with forecast highs dropping to the mid-60s. However, temperatures will rise again over the weekend, with highs projected to climb to the mid-70s by Friday and Saturday.
