According to the National Weather Service, areas affected include the Marin and Sonoma Coastal Ranges, the North and East Bay interior valleys, and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Heat is also impacting Santa Clara Hills and parts of Salinas and Monterey counties. Residents are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities and stay hydrated throughout the day.
The National Weather Service recommends avoiding leaving people or pets in vehicles during this extreme heat. As the advisory lasts until the evening, take frequent cooling breaks and monitor vulnerable individuals for signs of heat-related illnesses.
