Austin, Texas – Heavy rain could drench parts of Central Texas this week, with a 35% chance of San Antonio and Austin seeing more than 3 inches of rainfall through Friday. Flash flooding is possible as multiple rounds of storms roll through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, rain chances begin late Monday, but the most intense rainfall is expected Wednesday and Thursday. Confidence remains low in the exact timing of individual storm systems, but areas including New Braunfels, Georgetown, and Fredericksburg are all at heightened risk for heavier downpours.

The threat of flash flooding may increase if rain bands stall or repeatedly move over the same areas. While total rainfall amounts remain uncertain, models show a widespread risk of 1 inch or more across much of the I-35 corridor and surrounding counties. Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roads, especially during peak commute hours midweek.

Residents should monitor local alerts and prepare for possible impacts to travel, power, and outdoor plans. Keep mobile devices charged and stay informed as conditions evolve.

Rain chances persist through Friday, and additional advisories may be issued if the flooding risk increases midweek.
