Salt Lake City, UT – Northern Utah is bracing for another round of accumulating snow as a winter storm moves through the region, bringing travel concerns and hazardous conditions through Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City, snowfall will begin Friday evening and continue into early Saturday before tapering off to lighter snow showers in the afternoon. The heaviest snowfall is expected early Saturday morning, with rates exceeding an inch per hour at times.

Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches are forecast, with localized amounts reaching up to 15 inches in the Upper Cottonwoods and Bear River Range. Gusty winds may also contribute to blowing snow, particularly near Logan Summit, which could reduce visibility and create hazardous driving conditions.

Drivers are urged to prepare for winter conditions, slow down, and allow extra travel time. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises checking road conditions at udottraffic.utah.gov before heading out. Traction restrictions may be in place for mountain routes.

Travelers are encouraged to carry a well-equipped winter survival kit, as conditions could change rapidly. While impacts are expected to be limited to mountainous areas, those traveling in affected regions should remain alert for deteriorating weather conditions.
