Salt Lake City, Utah – Triple-digit temperatures and daily thunderstorms are hitting Utah hard this week, with record-breaking heat possible in parts of the state through Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected each day through Thursday across much of northern, central, and southern Utah. The active weather pattern will then taper off Friday, giving way to a dry but still hot weekend.

Salt Lake City is forecast to hit 100°F by Thursday, while Cedar City and St. George could climb to 104°F and 107°F, respectively. Northern areas like Logan and Evanston, Wyoming, will see milder but still unseasonably warm highs in the 70s and 80s. PM thunderstorms could lead to localized flooding or lightning risks during peak travel hours.

Drivers should avoid high-elevation routes during storm activity and stay weather-aware with updated alerts. Officials also urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure, and use air conditioning or cooling centers where available.

This warming trend marks one of the hottest stretches of the year so far — and possibly a record-setting one. Thunderstorm chances diminish by Friday, but heat will linger into the weekend.

Stay tuned for additional advisories as conditions evolve.
