Sacramento, CA – Sacramento is on track to bake under increasingly intense heat, with high temperatures climbing from the upper 80s this weekend to a scorching 102°F by Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, sunny skies will dominate through Friday, with no relief from rain or cloud cover. Saturday will reach 87°F, but highs will steadily increase to 93°F on Sunday, 90°F Monday, and peak at 102°F on Thursday. Overnight lows will remain in the mid-to-upper 50s through midweek, offering only limited overnight cooling.
The sustained heat may strain power grids, impact outdoor workers, and increase wildfire risk across Sacramento County and neighboring areas like Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, and Roseville. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. PG&E has not issued any power warnings yet, but the utility encourages conservation during peak demand.
This will be Sacramento’s first major heat spike of July and among the hottest weeks of the summer so far. No cooling trend is expected until at least next weekend.
Warnings remain in effect for elevated fire danger and heat-related illnesses through Friday.
