Sacramento, CA – A freeze warning remains in effect for Sacramento and surrounding areas until 7 a.m. Tuesday, with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30°F expected.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning applies to the Carquinez Strait and Delta, the Central Sacramento Valley, and parts of the Northern San Joaquin Valley. The affected region includes cities such as Fairfield, Suisun, Chico, Modesto, Red Bluff, Marysville, Yuba City, Alder Springs, Oroville, Sacramento, Stockton, Paradise, and Redding.

Residents should take precautions to protect sensitive plants, outdoor plumbing, and crops. Frost and freeze conditions could cause significant agricultural damage and pose risks to unprotected water lines.

The warning began at 10 p.m. Monday and will last until 7 a.m. Tuesday. After the freeze, temperatures will gradually rise, with Sacramento expecting highs in the mid-50s later in the week. However, showers are forecasted to return by Wednesday night, bringing additional weather concerns.

The NWS advises covering plants, insulating exposed pipes, and bringing pets indoors during the cold spell. For the latest weather updates, visit weather.gov.
