Mineola, TX – Minor flooding continues along the Sabine River near Mineola, with water levels expected to remain above flood stage until early Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport.
As of 9:15 p.m. Thursday, the river was at 15.2 feet, surpassing the flood stage of 14 feet. Forecasters predict the water will gradually recede, dropping below flood levels by early Sunday and continuing to fall to 12.4 feet by Tuesday evening.
The NWS warns that flooding of low-lying areas, secondary roads, and recreational spaces is ongoing. Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads, heed barricades, and move livestock and equipment to higher ground. Most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles, and authorities urge drivers not to attempt crossing submerged roads.
