Orlando, FL – Dangerous coastal conditions are set to persist along Florida’s east coast today and into Tuesday, bringing a high risk of rip currents and rough surf. Officials advise avoiding entry into the water, as waves are expected to reach between 5 to 7 feet. Beachgoers should exercise caution, and boaters are urged to heed the Small Craft Advisory in effect for local Atlantic waters.
According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, coastal showers are expected to push inland throughout today, increasing breezy conditions along the shoreline. While these showers may lessen by Tuesday afternoon, the hazardous surf conditions will likely continue, with another high rip current risk expected through midweek.
Extended Forecast
Looking further into the week, Florida’s Central Coast should anticipate more unstable weather patterns. On Tuesday, conditions will start partly sunny before potential showers move in after 1 p.m., with temperatures reaching a high of 84°F and easterly winds up to 20 mph. The region can expect a mix of sun and showers through Thursday, with a 50 percent chance of thunderstorms likely Wednesday night. Temperatures will peak in the low to mid-80s through Thursday, with nighttime lows ranging from 71 to 75°F.
Safety Precautions
With high rip currents and surf advisories in place, officials are urging all swimmers and boaters to avoid the water until conditions improve. Large waves and strong currents can make even experienced swimmers vulnerable. Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed on local advisories and consider alternative plans if visiting the beach this week.
