Sacramento, CA – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for much of Northern California, effective from 11 a.m. today through 5 p.m. Saturday, as strong winds and low humidity create critical fire weather conditions. The warning applies to the Eastern Portion of Shasta/Trinity National Forest and extends to the Sacramento Valley, Sierra Foothills, and Delta regions.
Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 55 mph, particularly Thursday night into Friday. Relative humidity will drop as low as 10%, with only moderate overnight recoveries, especially across mountain valleys and gaps. The Sacramento Valley and areas west of Interstate-5 are at the highest risk.
These conditions significantly increase the potential for new fire starts and rapid fire spread. Residents are advised against outdoor burning and should take steps to prevent accidental fires. Stay informed with local authorities for updates and evacuation notices.
