Concord, N.H. – Roads and streams across southern and central New Hampshire could flood Saturday as heavy rainfall continues to drench already saturated ground.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine, a Flood Watch remains in effect from 8 a.m. through Saturday evening for Sullivan, Merrimack, Cheshire, and Hillsborough counties. Flash flooding is possible where storm runoff overwhelms rivers and low-lying roads.

Cities at risk include Manchester, Nashua, Concord, Keene, and Claremont, where creeks and storm drains may overflow by mid-morning. The greatest danger lies in areas that received significant rainfall Friday, amplifying runoff potential.

Travelers should avoid flooded roadways, especially along Routes 3, 9, and I-89, and monitor for flash flood warnings, which could be issued with little notice. Emergency officials urge residents in Goffstown, Peterborough, Amherst, and Pelham to secure basements and avoid unnecessary travel until the threat passes.

This is the first major flood threat of June, and officials are warning that conditions could worsen if additional bands of rain develop this afternoon.

Flood alerts remain active until tonight. Stay tuned to NWS updates and be prepared to act quickly if flash flood warnings are issued.
