Champaign, IL – After a warm and dry weekend, more typical autumn weather is set to return to central Illinois next week. The forecast indicates cooler temperatures and the potential for rain showers starting Tuesday, offering a break from the unseasonably warm conditions.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, rain is expected to arrive late Monday night into Tuesday, especially along I-55 and I-57, with a slight chance of morning showers west of the highways. Temperatures will also begin to cool, with highs on Tuesday reaching the low 70s before falling into the 60s by mid-week.

Residents should prepare for cooler, damp conditions through the middle of the week, as showers and cloud cover are expected to increase. By Wednesday and Thursday, highs will only reach the low 60s, signaling a return to more typical fall weather. Lows will remain in the 40s, making for brisk nights.

Those planning outdoor activities or travel should be aware of changing conditions, especially on Tuesday when showers may impact roads in the area.
