Indianapolis, IN – Hoosiers can expect a rainy and dreary weekend as wet weather moves into central Indiana starting tonight. The National Weather Service forecasts rain developing after 7 p.m., with southeast winds of up to 13 mph and gusts reaching 24 mph.

According to the NWS, Sunday will begin with steady rain, tapering to drizzle by late morning. Highs will reach 49°F, but gusts of up to 20 mph will make outdoor plans difficult. Commuters on Monday should prepare for a messy start to the workweek, as heavy showers will linger through the morning hours, potentially impacting visibility and road conditions along major routes like I-65 and I-70.

The extended forecast shows improvements by midweek, with mostly sunny skies returning Tuesday. Monday’s rain will push temperatures to a high of 55°F before cooler air arrives Monday night. By Wednesday, highs will drop to 43°F, with another chance of rain or light snow.

For those venturing out this weekend, be prepared for slick roads and reduced visibility during rain showers. Keep umbrellas and raincoats handy, especially during Sunday morning’s heaviest rainfall. If driving, ensure headlights are on and maintain safe distances.

As the week progresses, drier and sunnier conditions will prevail by Thursday, providing some relief after the gloomy start.
