Buffalo, NY – Rain and fog are expected to disrupt commutes across Buffalo today, with conditions worsening tonight as a cold front arrives.
The National Weather Service warns of widespread soaking rain and patchy fog affecting visibility along major roadways, including I-90. Tonight, precipitation may transition to wet snow at higher elevations, particularly in the southern and eastern parts of Erie County. Drivers should slow down and use caution in areas of reduced visibility.
According to the National Weather Service, foggy conditions this morning will give way to rain intensifying in the afternoon and evening. Gusty winds of up to 34 mph are expected overnight, making travel potentially hazardous. Temperatures will drop from today’s high of 57°F to a low of 38°F by Thursday morning.
Thursday will see lighter rain, but the cold air lingers with highs near 43°F. Conditions will remain unsettled through the weekend, with showers likely on Friday and Saturday. Snow chances increase late Thursday and Friday night, particularly in areas above 1,000 feet. Drivers should prepare for slippery roads and low visibility in these areas.
This extended stretch of wet weather poses flooding risks in low-lying areas. Residents should clear leaves from storm drains and monitor local alerts for updates.
