Paducah, Ky. – Dry skies will give way to another round of showers across the Quad State region tonight as a slow-moving system pushes through western Kentucky, southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and northwest Tennessee.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, rain will begin late Tuesday and persist through Friday morning, with the highest chances for intermittent showers and isolated thunderstorms on Wednesday and Thursday. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light — generally under a quarter of an inch — but brief downpours or a stray storm could cause slick roads during the morning and evening commute hours.
Cities including Paducah, Cape Girardeau, Carbondale, and Union City will experience temperatures in the low to mid-70s during the day with overnight lows in the 50s. While no widespread flooding or severe storms are expected, isolated lightning and localized gusts may occur with Thursday’s activity.
Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time on rain-soaked roads and monitor local alerts in case storm activity increases. Those with outdoor plans should stay weather-aware and keep devices charged.
This slow-moving system is expected to exit by early Friday, though updates may follow if storm coverage expands. Rain chances taper off heading into the weekend.
