Paducah, Kentucky – Residents across the Quad State region should brace for increasing chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms tonight as a low pressure system moves in from the west.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a frontal boundary will push into the area late this evening, bringing a surge in cloud cover and instability. The highest risk for rain and storms will be west of the Mississippi River, particularly along river-adjacent counties in southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.

Cities like Cape Girardeau, Sikeston, and Cairo could see scattered storms between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., while Paducah and portions of western Kentucky may experience light to moderate rain. Overnight lows are expected to hover between 50 and 58 degrees, and while no severe weather is forecast, brief downpours and gusty winds could accompany isolated cells.

Motorists traveling overnight on I-55 or US-60 should watch for wet roads and reduced visibility. Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and keep weather alerts enabled in case conditions change quickly.

Showers are expected to taper off by sunrise, but additional rain chances return later this week. Updates from the NWS will continue as the system progresses.
