Quad Cities, IL – Light snow is expected to sweep through the Mississippi River Valley on Thursday night, bringing slick road conditions by Friday morning. Forecasters predict snowfall accumulation up to one inch, primarily along and east of the river.

According to the National Weather Service in Quad Cities, the highest chances for snowfall lie south of a line from Princeton, Illinois, to Memphis, Missouri. Temperatures will remain cold, ranging from the upper 20s to low 30s during the day, dropping into single digits overnight.

Drivers should prepare for hazardous travel conditions, particularly during early morning commutes. Roads may become slick as snow combines with freezing overnight temperatures. The weather service recommends caution when approaching intersections and making turns.

The light snowstorm is part of a system moving in from the west. Although accumulations are not expected to be significant, the wintry mix could still create challenges for travelers. Residents should take extra time to clear vehicles and plan alternate routes if necessary.

The snow follows a period of quiet but cold weather, with daily highs barely climbing above freezing. These conditions are forecast to persist into the weekend. Clear skies will return after the system moves through late Friday.

The National Weather Service advises monitoring local forecasts and preparing for potential delays. Stay alert for weather updates and road condition reports.
