Quad Cities, IL — A wave of rain will move through the Quad Cities area today, bringing potentially challenging conditions for drivers and dampening outdoor plans. The heaviest showers are expected during the afternoon and evening, with rain tapering off after midnight, making roads like I-74 slippery. Those heading out should drive cautiously, as steady rain could reduce visibility and create slick spots.

According to the National Weather Service, the rainfall will approach from the southwest and cover most of the region by late afternoon, with a 70% chance of precipitation. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light, mostly around a quarter inch or less, but the damp conditions will persist, eventually giving way to light drizzle after midnight. East winds will reach up to 15 mph, gusting as high as 20 mph during peak rainfall.

Sunday’s forecast offers a break from the rain, with sunny skies expected and highs reaching near 58 degrees, providing favorable conditions for outdoor activities and travel. Veterans Day on Monday is also shaping up to be a pleasant day, with mostly sunny skies and a high around 60 degrees, perfect for local parades and commemorative events.

Looking ahead, temperatures will cool slightly mid-week, with Tuesday seeing sunny skies and a high near 57 degrees. A 50% chance of rain returns on Wednesday, with partly sunny skies and highs near 60, before skies clear again Thursday.

For those with plans today or on the road, keep an umbrella handy and be prepared for possible delays due to rain. Enjoy the clearing skies and sunny conditions expected for the holiday on Monday.
