Quad Cities residents should brace for strong westerly winds starting late Monday morning and continuing through the afternoon.
According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities, sustained winds between 25-35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, are forecast. The weather service advises securing loose outdoor items and exercising caution while driving high-profile vehicles, particularly on north-south roads. The strong winds will also increase the risk of grass fires spreading rapidly, prompting officials to recommend avoiding any outdoor burning activities.
The advisory urges residents to prepare in advance and remain vigilant throughout the day Monday.
