Colorado Springs, CO – A spring fire weather alert will impact large portions of southern Colorado on Sunday, with a sharp weather shift expected by Monday. According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Fire Weather Watch is in effect Sunday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. MDT for southern El Paso and Pueblo counties, including Fort Carson and I-25 zones. Winds could gust up to 35 mph with humidity levels dropping as low as 6 percent. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and remain alert for any changes in fire conditions.
The pattern changes dramatically by Sunday night, as a chance of rain and snow develops after 9 p.m., particularly near Colorado Springs. Cooler temperatures and light precipitation are forecast into Monday morning, with snow showers lingering through midday. While accumulation is expected to remain under one-tenth of an inch, roads like I-25 and US-50 could become slick during early commutes.
