Pueblo, CO – Southern Colorado is bracing for dangerous weather as a High Wind Warning remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Gusts nearing 60 mph along the I-25 corridor threaten to disrupt travel and cause power outages in the region.
According to the National Weather Service, these high winds are most likely to impact drivers of high-profile vehicles, especially along open stretches of I-25 near Pueblo. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and prepare for possible power disruptions. Tree damage is also a concern.
Adding to the weather concerns, snow is expected to intensify across higher elevations, including the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, on Wednesday. Forecasters predict 5 to 10 inches of accumulation in these areas, with hazardous road conditions likely. Travelers should consider delaying plans or using extreme caution if traveling to higher elevations or along mountain passes.
Looking ahead, conditions are expected to clear by Thanksgiving Day, with sunny skies and a high near 41 degrees. Calm weather will persist through Saturday, but overnight lows will dip into the teens, creating freezing conditions.
Those in southern Colorado should monitor updates from local weather services and avoid unnecessary travel during peak weather conditions.
