Pueblo residents are preparing for near-record high temperatures as a heatwave sweeps across southern Colorado this week. Temperatures are expected to soar to 95°F on Thursday, with minimal relief in sight until Friday, when isolated mountain storms could provide brief cooling.
According to the National Weather Service, dry and above-normal temperatures are expected to persist through early next week, with the warmest day forecast for Thursday. Although the region is likely to stay just below record highs, residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities during peak heat. Cooling shelters may become available in case temperatures rise above safety thresholds.
The NWS also warns that brief but intense mountain storms are possible on Friday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures by the weekend. Travelers along the I-25 corridor should monitor the forecast for updates, particularly as storm conditions may briefly affect visibility and road safety. By Sunday, temperatures are expected to return to more moderate levels, around 88°F, providing a much-needed break from the heat.
