New York, NY – A gradual clearing on Thursday night will usher in a sunny but frigid Friday across the New York area, with wind chills making temperatures feel even colder. The National Weather Service warns that wind chill values could drop to as low as 11°F, posing risks for frostbite with extended exposure.

According to the latest forecast, Friday’s high will reach only 31°F despite clear skies and sunshine. Winds from the west are expected to reach up to 10 mph, contributing to the biting cold. Residents are advised to bundle up, particularly during morning commutes when temperatures will be at their lowest.

Friday night will remain mostly clear, with lows around 18°F and slightly diminished winds from the northwest at 7-9 mph. The clear weather will continue into Saturday, offering another sunny day, though temperatures will remain near freezing, with a high of 31°F.

Looking ahead, conditions will warm slightly by Sunday, with highs nearing 39°F. However, clouds will increase, bringing mostly cloudy skies into the evening and overnight. Monday and Tuesday will remain dry but cool, with highs in the upper 30s and lows in the mid-20s.

Stay updated on changing conditions and remember to check on vulnerable neighbors and pets during this cold spell. Frostbite can occur in under 30 minutes when wind chills drop below 10°F, so prioritize layers, limit outdoor activities, and avoid icy surfaces to prevent slips or falls.
