Pittsburgh Tornado Alert: EF-0 Twister Strikes Highland Park Neighborhood

Pittsburgh, PA – An EF-0 tornado touched down in the Highland Park and Lincoln-Lemington areas of Allegheny County on Wednesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the tornado’s short but impactful path, stretching about one mile.

According to NWS data, the tornado began near Stanton Avenue at 5:00 p.m. and lasted two minutes. Wind speeds reached up to 70 mph, causing scattered damage to trees, power poles, and shingles. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The tornado caused minimal structural damage, with the strongest winds measured near Campania Avenue. Survey teams noted that the narrow tornado formed within a larger storm system. Surrounding winds of 40-60 mph caused additional debris.

The NWS classified the tornado as EF-0, the weakest on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, based on its peak wind speed and impact. Crews continue to evaluate the surrounding area for more damage details.

Local authorities urge residents to stay alert as storms remain possible in the region. Further updates will follow if additional storms develop.
