Phoenix, AZ – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued freeze warnings across parts of Arizona, with sub-freezing temperatures expected overnight. The warnings cover Aguila Valley, Northwest Pinal County, Superior, Globe, and Tonto Basin.
According to the NWS, the first warning begins at midnight Wednesday and lasts until 9 a.m. Thursday. A second warning will start at midnight Thursday night and extend through 9 a.m. Friday. Temperatures are predicted to range from the upper 20s to lower 30s.
The freeze could damage sensitive vegetation, harm crops, and affect unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents in affected areas should take precautions to shield plants and insulate pipes. Cities under the advisory include Casa Grande, Florence, Globe, and San Carlos.
Experts recommend bringing potted plants indoors and covering outdoor plants with frost blankets. Homeowners should also drain outdoor hoses and wrap exposed pipes to prevent freezing.
Temperatures in these areas are not typical for this time of year, prompting concern for farmers and gardeners. Communities in Globe, Miami, and Dripping Springs should remain alert to changing conditions and take early action.
Cold weather poses risks for vulnerable populations and pets. Officials advise ensuring proper shelter and warmth for animals during the freeze.
The NWS advises monitoring forecasts and taking measures to stay safe through Friday. Residents should plan to limit outdoor exposure during the coldest hours of the night and early morning.
