Phoenix, AZ – Residents in southern Arizona will face dangerously high temperatures through Tuesday as an Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. on October 1st. With daytime temperatures expected to soar between 104°F and 116°F, public health officials urge people to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), Phoenix and surrounding cities, including Glendale and Mesa, will experience highs of 114°F on Saturday, 110°F on Sunday, and 107°F on Monday, with lows ranging from 81°F to 85°F during the night. The extreme heat heightens the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Officials stress the importance of knowing the symptoms and seeking shade or air-conditioned spaces when possible.

Safety Reminders
Maricopa County encourages residents to dial 2-1-1 to locate free cooling centers. Those working outside are urged to schedule frequent breaks, wear light clothing, and drink plenty of water. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) also recommends limiting strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours.

By mid-week, temperatures will remain high, with the forecast showing a high of 108°F on Tuesday and 107°F on Wednesday. Some relief is expected by Thursday and Friday as temperatures drop slightly to 105°F. Clear skies are forecast throughout the week, so prolonged sun exposure is a concern.

What’s Next
A heat reprieve is anticipated next weekend, but the forecast remains hot for the days ahead. Residents should monitor updates for changes and continue practicing heat safety.
