Philadelphia, PA – A soggy end to May is underway as heavy rain continues early Saturday, raising the risk of street and creek flooding across eastern Pennsylvania and northern Delaware.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Flood Watch remains in effect through 8 a.m. Saturday for Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, and surrounding suburbs, including Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, and Delaware counties, as well as New Castle County, Delaware. Rainfall totals could hit 1 to 3 inches, with the heaviest bursts expected before sunrise.

Water may rise quickly in poor-drainage areas and along creeks in Reading, Norristown, Wilmington, and Easton. Drivers should avoid low-lying roads and watch for lane closures near underpasses and urban centers. Conditions are expected to gradually improve late Saturday morning.

After the rain clears, Sunday marks a much drier start to June. Philadelphia will see highs near 70°F with mostly sunny skies. The five-day outlook includes sunny to partly cloudy weather and warming temperatures—reaching the mid-80s by Thursday.

While flooding is the main concern today, the first week of June is shaping up to be mild and dry. Additional alerts will be issued if flooding develops early Saturday.
