Philadelphia, PA – Heavy rain is set to impact Thanksgiving travel across Pennsylvania, including the I-95 corridor, starting late tonight and continuing into early Thursday. Travelers are advised to plan for wet roadways and reduced visibility during peak morning hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, rain is expected to begin overnight and intensify by early Thursday morning. Thanksgiving Day will start with steady rain, tapering off by 1 p.m., as winds shift northeast at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph. The high for Thanksgiving is forecasted at 50°F.
Drivers on I-95 and I-76 should remain cautious of slick conditions. The rain could produce up to three-quarters of an inch of precipitation, increasing the risk of hydroplaning. If possible, consider traveling during the afternoon or evening hours when conditions will improve.
Looking ahead, Thursday night will bring partly cloudy skies with a low near 35°F. Friday will be dry, with a high of 47°F and lighter winds. The weekend will see a sharp drop in temperatures, with sunny skies Saturday and highs only reaching 39°F. Overnight lows Saturday and Sunday could dip into the mid-20s, so residents should prepare for frost.
