Philadelphia, PA – Severe winds Monday and Arctic temperatures through the week will create a challenging start to the holiday week for Philadelphia.

The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning until 6 p.m. Monday, with wind gusts up to 60 mph. These winds will bring down trees and power lines, possibly causing widespread outages and dangerous travel conditions.

By Tuesday, temperatures drop to a high of 29°F, with overnight lows in the teens. Snow chances increase by Wednesday night, with a 60% chance of accumulation lasting into Thursday. Wind chills will make temperatures feel near or below zero by midweek, increasing the risk of frostbite.

Residents should avoid unnecessary travel, check on vulnerable neighbors, and prepare for possible blackouts. If using generators, keep them outside and away from vents to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
