Philadelphia, PA – Bitterly cold conditions will persist across the region this weekend, with sub-freezing lows and chilly daytime highs forecasted through Monday. Residents should prepare for icy conditions on roadways, including I-95, and bundle up for freezing nights with lows dropping into the teens.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will remain well below average, with tonight’s low expected to dip to 13°F under mostly clear skies. Friday will see a brief reprieve with sunny skies and a high near 32°F, though temperatures will fall again to 13°F Friday night. This pattern of sunny days and freezing nights will extend through the weekend.

Saturday’s high is forecasted at 31°F with calm winds, while overnight lows will remain frigid at 20°F. On Sunday, partly cloudy skies will offer some relief, with daytime highs climbing to 41°F. However, Sunday night temperatures will plunge again to 22°F, keeping frost risks elevated. The chill will persist into Monday with highs in the low 40s.

Residents should use caution on local roadways, particularly during the morning hours when frost and potential black ice are most likely. Homeowners are advised to protect outdoor pipes and bring pets indoors as temperatures remain dangerously low overnight.

Looking ahead, a gradual warming trend is expected midweek, with highs nearing 44°F by Tuesday. Despite the freezing start, the region can anticipate clearer skies and calmer winds, providing an opportunity for outdoor activities later in the week.
