Peoria, IL – A Peoria man was injured in a shooting on Tuesday night during a police investigation. Officers were conducting an investigation in the 1300 block of SW Phoenix when they heard a gunshot.
According to the Peoria Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:41 p.m. Officers quickly responded to the area where the shot was fired and found an adult male with a gunshot wound to his ankle in the 1200 block of SW St. Martin. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Members of the Peoria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Crime Scene Unit (CSU), and Patrol Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. During a search of the area, officers located a discarded handgun in the 1200 block of SW St. Martin, where the shooting occurred.
